Steel is the world’s most important engineering and construction material. However, steel production is also a major source of greenhouse gases. Blastr’s answer is ultra-low CO₂ steel, drastically reducing CO₂ emissions by replacing coal and coke with hydrogen in the production prosess.

Origins and vision
Blastr Green Steel was established in 2021 to leverage Nordic advantages and become an integrated low CO₂ steel producer, based on a vision of decarbonizing the steel value chain.
Our mission is to challenge the status-quo in the steel industry by developing integrated, decarbonized and scalable value chains for ultra-low CO₂ steel production.
European market demand for premium priced low CO₂ flat steel products will reach 30-40 million tonnes in 2030 and increase further towards 100 million tonnes in 2050. Blastr Green Steel’s unique, integrated value chain will produce 2.5 million tonnes of cost competitive, ultra-low CO₂ steel, with ~90% lower scope 1-3 emissions than conventional steel production. This represents a yearly reduction of close to 6 million tonnes of CO₂, which is 25% more than the yearly CO₂ emissions from all passenger vehicles in Finland.
With strong support from strategic partners, leading technology providers and other key stakeholders we are well-positioned to become a leading European low CO₂ steel producer. Our innovative approach to steel production will create motivation for our employees and value for our investors while contributing to a sustainable future and a healthier planet.
Daring We dare to dream and to challenge the status quo
Innovative We are innovative in everything we do throughout the entire value chain
Transparent We are transparent in our business practices, towards our stakeholders, and in documenting our environmental footprint
Dependable We believe in what we do, and we do what we say
